Sidecar has continued to innovate with outdoor dining and is quick with new strategies to benefit guests, whether it's new outdoor heaters or cool new beers, cocktails, and sliders. They have First Responders Eat Free day, sent sliders to health care workers during the pandemic, and regularly participate in local events."

One prime example was at the start of the lock down and pandemic, they were able to provide necessities to to the people, such as TP and hand sanitizer, and they sold very cheaply to help families in need. They offer fundraising, such as being a part of Restaurant week and supporting the Flanders park project."

The person who nominated Care by Design described them as, "above and beyond during COVID to deliver to residents products and have even been able to help out another local business that had to shut down in these trying times, providing room and board and jobs for the owners of the other company, offering them a new business opportunity. This business is always involved in community events, and the owner makes sure to have a presence in town and at city meetings."
Citizen Of The Year Nominees:
Linda, along with her husband Keith, has been a Farmington resident since 1981. Both Linda and Keith are enthusiastic supporters of Downtown Farmington and its merchants and are well known by many of the storeowners and employees. Linda retired in 2018 from her long career with General Motors as an HR Leader. Upon retirement, she decided to focus her energy on supporting Farmington by actively leading activities that promote community involvement and by volunteering for the DDA. In 2020 the
Greater Farmington Holiday Home Tour - Linda led the formation of a
robust and active planning committee made up of residents, Governor
Warner Mansion board members and local officials from the
Farmington and Farmington Hills Historical Commissions. She received
a commitment from (5) homeowners to open their beautiful homes for
touring on December 4, 2020 in support of the Governor Warner
Mansion. Unfortunately the Covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation
of the tour for 2020 but the groundwork has been laid for 2021.
Farmington Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Volunteer -
Linda is an active volunteer with the DDA. She has been asked to lead
the Volunteer Management effort and participate on the DDA
Organization Sub-Committee. Over the last year she has volunteered at
several DDA events in 2020 including Ladies Night Out and Heart the
Farmington Grand Raven Festival - Linda is on the core planning
committee for this inaugural event bringing organization and creativity
to the committee. This year’s event provided a great boost to the
Farmington community and is planned to be an annual festival.
Linda enjoys planning events and takes great pleasure in volunteering
especially for Farmington.
The person who nominated Linda described her as, " a person who works hard to connect people and organizations in the community to make the Farmington Area a successful destination during a very tough time!"
Beth Burns is an owner of Sunflour Bakehaus . The person who nominated Beth described her as "doing a lot for the community and on top of that, she is a very involved mother to 3 children at different stages of adolescence."
Maja is a member of GreenPath's Talent Development Team. She provides coaching and group training sessions focused on empathy and interpersonal development. I support employees and teams to have more success, enjoyment and effectiveness at work.
The person who nominated her says, "Maja is an Empathy Coach at GreenPath and has made it her mission to make sure there has been support available for the community (clients and employees) to deal with everything this year has thrown at us. Maja has gone above and beyond working outside of "normal" business hours to be available.
Emily has worked in the Farmington area since the fall of 2015 when her job at Community Living Centers brought her here. She immediately began representing CLC in the Chamber of Commerce and fell in love with the business community here. Today she is grateful that some of her closest friends and professional connections are in the Chamber, where she now serves on the board as secretary and is president-elect for 2021. While in her role at CLC, she worked in the Farmington community and Metro Detroit to support her neighbors with developmental disabilities, and also is fortunate to have the opportunity started the Chamber's young professionals group. She has worked for 2 other Farmington based small businesses, currently Paulson's Audio and Video. In her role as Director of Marketing and Outreach, she continues to work with organizations like CLC, CARES, Farmington Public Schools, the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation, the Farmington Community Chorus, and others to support their efforts in developing and empowering our community.
In July of 2018 Here and her husband bought their 1st home in Farmington Hills. "We are so happy and proud to be a part of this community that I fell in love with those years ago!" She is involved in her son's school, her HOA, writing for the Farmington Voice, and various other volunteer work and activities in the community. Emily says, "It is an honor and a pleasure to be a part of this community, and I am confident that I am raising my two sons in a wonderful environment here."
The person who nominated Emily described her as, "an amazingly talented person, an Author, a Vlogger, an key team member of a Farmington Area Business: Paulson's Audio & Video, a Farmington Area Homeowner, a leader at the Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce, and big supporter of the Farmington Area community. She has done incredible things behind the scenes and front and center, she has helped us get through the pandemic with her positive outlook, and supportive messages."
The person who nominated Steve described him as a "pivotal part of the Jaycees dine out for Flanders Park event in February. He passed out flyers door to door to over 400 homes to advertise for the event, in the snow! He showed up at every restaurant or had his wife and was sure to volunteer every day. Steve has been very involved in the entire Flanders park project and has never once had a complaint or negative thing to say. He is a positive light in a negative time!"
